This year we are going to branch out into other workshops: we will still be doing the cobbing workshops but will be interspersing them with others. We are now offering a:-

We are offering a discount to any one who has attended a Mat workshop or Convergence, and if you arrive in shared transport or public transport, baz bus etc we will give you a nights free accommodation.

We are holding a week's workshop in the idyllic eastern Cape village of Hogsback. We will be doing repairs to the wattle and daub cottages at Komkhulu.

These repairs will be:

Lessons here learning to put up support poles and fixing them in the ground with lime concrete. Repairing and building with wattle and daub, and applying lime plaster. (One form of cob)
  • Building a bench of stone and cob Lessons: stone masonry and using cob as you would build walls
  • Putting in a new floor in one of the cottages. Lessons: layering of the floor to keep damp out and then using cob in a third way

It won't only be work there will be time to sneak off and do some walking and exploring of the village!

We are having a nice response to what I think is going to be a very good weekend. Some folk are coming up earlier to be able to hike and experience the village. Looking forward to sharing the week with you - Jill
