The Little Cottage

We have just started the construction of a little cottage on the bottom property. But this one is special, very special!

  • Its dimensions are being constrained to the 40 sqm required by the low-cost, RDP, housing specification.
  • It is demonstrating community building – so anyone who wants to join in as a volunteer and learn cob building or broaden their experience is very welcome.
  • And, of course, it is being built entirely from cob, wattle and daub, and adobe brick.

So, putting it all together, we have the potential for creating community-built, low-cost housing developments that are humanly-livable and ecologically sound.

The project is in McGregor, having started mid-January, and building work is during the weekdays. We are aiming to complete by April.

So if you have time to spare – come join us slinging mud!!

This page will get longer as the cottage gets higher - so check back often!
